The circulatory system is the system of our body that pumps blood and gets oxygen to the different parts of our body. This system consists of the heart, the arteries, the veins, and the capillaries. There is muscular, connective, and nervous tissue in the circulatory system. The connective tissue helps to join the different parts of the system. The nervous tissue links it to the Central Nervous System. The muscular tissue is what most of the major organs in the circulatory system are made of. The heart is also. The heart is the center of the circulatory system. All of the oxygen poor blood goes through the pulmonary artery and to the lungs so that we can breath. This blood comes back through the pulmonary vein. Meanwhile, all the rest of the blood is oxygen rich, and travels throughout the body. Even though the heart may be the powerhouse of the circulatory system, it wouldn't be able to do anything without the blood vessels. The arteries carry blood away from the heart, to the rest of the body. Then, the capillaries take the blood and disperse it all over our body, and then the veins carry the blood back to our heart.
The circulatory system also works with many other body systems. For example, the respiratory system gets the oxygen into our body, and then the circulatory system carries it in our blood all throughout it. Also, the nervous system tells our heart to keep on beating. Without that, the system would be useless. Finally, the lymphatic system is a secondary circulatory system, but its main purpose is to return fluid to your blood.

This video shows how the circulatory system works with the respiratory system. It also shows the basics of how the heart and bloodstream work.
